A strong GW1 differential is a low-owned player (typically under 10% owned) in good form with a kind fixture, who most of your rivals don't have. OneFPL ranks these each gameweek by form, minutes and fixture difficulty so you can find rank-winners before the crowd.
A differential is any player owned by a small share of managers - commonly under 10%, and punts under 3%. Because few rivals own them, a differential haul moves you up the rankings faster than a template pick everyone already has.
If you're chasing rank, yes - differentials are how you make up ground. If you're protecting a lead, lean template and keep risk low. Balance is key: one or two well-chosen differentials with good fixtures, not a whole team of punts.
