| Chelsea vs Tottenham | 0–2 | Palmer's red card and João Pedro's absence change squad planning |
| Crystal Palace vs Newcastle | 0–2 | Barnes and Osula return potential; selection remains a risk |
| Hull vs Brentford | 1–1 | Do not judge budget forwards by a single return or blank |
| Liverpool vs Brighton | 2–0 | Isak scored; Wirtz sustained an ankle knock; Liverpool clean sheet |
| Man United vs Bournemouth | 0–3 | Bruno unused; Bournemouth's attack and defensive DefCon stand out |
| Sunderland vs Leeds | 0–0 | Trafford 10 points and Muharemović 9 points in early FPL scoring reports |
The Sunday Sunderland–Leeds 0–0 completes the picture. Leeds' back line conceded only six goals through eight league matches, while Sunderland earned a point in difficult conditions. Scout's match notes highlight Trafford's four saves and Muharemović's 13 qualifying defensive actions.

Five lessons that actually affect GW9 transfers
1. Player minutes are a variable, not a given. Bruno's unused substitute appearance and City/Chelsea rotation are reminders that name recognition does not guarantee 90 minutes. Track the Carabao Cup fixtures and latest team news before committing an expensive move.
2. Bournemouth look interesting beyond their goals. Rayan, Tavernier and Evanilson drew attention in the win at Old Trafford, while Hill and António Silva accumulated defensive contributions. The latter can be a more repeatable points route than expecting another 3–0 win.
3. Injuries demand evidence, not guessed return dates. Wirtz twisted his ankle and Liverpool were initially reassured, but a GW9 start against Arsenal still needs confirmation. João Pedro and other flagged players should be reassessed after club updates.
4. A haul may have limited transfer value. Jackson's brace against City creates interest before Villa host Fulham. A single match is a data point, not a complete transfer case: weigh expected minutes, shots, penalties, price and medium-term fixtures.
5. Defensive contributions change value judgments. A defender can earn extra points without a clean sheet. Trafford, Muharemović, Hill and Silva illustrate why goalkeeper saves and defender DefCon should be considered alongside traditional clean-sheet potential.

Historical note: this is a GW8 post-match review. When GW9 begins, current transfer and injury advice belongs on its own maintained pages rather than silently changing these completed match results.
