FPL GW9 Saturday review: results, hauls and what happens next
Results checked on 1 November 2026. Eight Premier League games were completed on Saturday 31 October. Liverpool v Arsenal (Sunday 1 November) and Newcastle v Everton (Monday 2 November) are still outstanding, so this is deliberately a Saturday round-up, not a final GW9 verdict. Individual Fantasy scores, bonus points and defensive-contribution awards may still be adjusted before the gameweek locks.

Who hauled?
The GW9 live results tracker showed these provisional leading scores after Saturday's matches:
| Player | Club | Provisional FPL points | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jan Paul van Hecke | Tottenham | 15 | Goal plus clean sheet and bonus; strong defensive upside |
| Oliver McBurnie | Hull | 12 | Goal, assist and bonus |
| Bart Verbruggen | Brighton | 11 | Away clean sheet, save/bonus returns |
| Wesley Fofana | Chelsea | 11 | Clean sheet, assist and bonus |
| Yasin Ayari | Brighton | 10 | Winning goal and bonus |
| Sepp van den Berg | Brentford | 10 | Clean sheet and defensive bonus routes |
| Evanilson | Bournemouth | 9 | Goal and maximum bonus in Saturday snapshot |
| Morgan Rogers | Chelsea | 9 | Goal and attacking points |
These totals are not final official GW9 points. The Premier League's 2026/27 rules delay final gameweek lock until 09:00 UK time on the day after the final match, allowing post-match data review.
Three evidence-based lessons
1. Spurs defenders deserve a second look
Van Hecke has multiple routes to FPL points: 90-minute clean sheets, defensive contributions and occasional goals. Tottenham travel to Leeds in GW10 before hosting Ipswich in GW11. His 15-point haul makes him interesting, but do not buy solely because you missed Saturday's points.
2. Brighton's win is impressive, but do not assume routine clean sheets
Brighton won 1–0 at Manchester City, yet City took 20 shots worth 1.92 xG according to the Premier League. The result demonstrates resistance and goalkeeper value, but also highlights the fragility of a single clean-sheet outcome. Brighton host Brentford next; review attacking roles and minutes alongside clean-sheet expectations.
3. Chelsea and Bournemouth attackers now have clearer GW10 cases
Chelsea's Rogers and Palmer combined for goals in the win over United and visit Sunderland next. Bournemouth's Evanilson scored against Leeds before an away trip to Ipswich. Those are useful transfer discussions, but fixtures, budgets and individual role remain more predictive than chasing one haul.
Which moves are actually urgent?
Check injuries and suspensions first. A playable starter becoming unavailable is more urgent than a healthy player blanking once. Then compare your best free-transfer plan against a hit using the OneFPL Planner. Our Player Lab can help separate sustainable attacking data from one-off returns.
What we are not claiming yet
This article does not rank the final GW9 Dream Team, reveal the outcome of Liverpool–Arsenal, or assign final gameweek averages. Those figures are only appropriate after Monday's match and FPL's data lock. Return for a separate complete GW9 review after the gameweek closes.
