The short answer
Liverpool were held to a second consecutive 2-2 draw, this time by Nottingham Forest at Anfield.
Forest led twice through Dan Ndoye and a Morgan Gibbs-White penalty, but Liverpool responded through Alexander Isak and Víctor Muñoz.
For FPL, the match produced five major clues:
- Gibbs-White is back in the penalty conversation.
- Isak finally scored but remained surprisingly isolated.
- Muñoz was Liverpool's biggest individual attacking threat.
- Wirtz looked better than his raw FPL score.
- Liverpool's defence is still difficult to trust.

1. Gibbs-White is suddenly one of the most interesting GW3 midfielders
Gibbs-White assisted Ndoye's opener and then converted Forest's penalty.
That produced 13 live points, including all three bonus.
The penalty matters more than the haul itself.
Forest's regular penalty picture had been uncertain after Gibbs-White missed two spot-kicks last season, but he took responsibility at Anfield and scored.
Forest now host a Tottenham side that has:
- lost both league matches
- conceded five goals
- scored none
OneFPL verdict: strong GW3 BUY candidate if the penalty role holds.

2. Isak scored — but Liverpool still struggled to find him
Isak's first league goal of the season was a simple close-range finish from Gakpo's cross.
The goal is good news.
The wider performance was less convincing.
Fantasy Football Scout recorded only 14 touches for Isak — fewer than every other Liverpool player involved, including substitutes.
His tap-in also accounted for a huge share of Liverpool's xG.
That tells us two things at once:
- Isak remains an elite finisher.
- Liverpool still need to create more consistent service for him.
The next fixture against Ipswich is much better.
OneFPL verdict: HOLD; do not judge him only on the low-touch count when the next fixture is strong.
3. Víctor Muñoz is forcing himself into the FPL conversation
Muñoz made his first competitive Liverpool start and scored the 82nd-minute equaliser.
Opta data showed he led Liverpool for:
- shots: 4
- attempted dribbles: 6
- duels contested: 17
At £6.5m, that is exactly the type of attacking midfielder FPL managers notice.
But his minutes are about to become harder to project because Liverpool's attacking transfer activity is moving quickly.
Bradley Barcola is expected to arrive, while Cody Gakpo is now linked with a move away.

4. Wirtz deserved more
Florian Wirtz:
- had a goal ruled out for offside in the build-up
- forced a strong save with a header
- assisted Muñoz's equaliser
He finished with only one FPL assist, but the performance was far more encouraging than that sounds.
OneFPL verdict: keep on the watchlist.
5. Szoboszlai found another route to points
Szoboszlai did not return in attack, but he reached 13 defensive contributions and earned the extra two FPL points.
Interestingly, many of those actions came after he moved to right-back.
With penalties, direct free-kicks and DefCon all in his profile, he remains a very unusual £7.0m FPL asset.
6. Liverpool defence remains a concern
Forest produced 2.3 xG compared with Liverpool's 1.61, according to Opta.
Liverpool have now conceded twice in each of their opening league matches.
That makes expensive defensive investment difficult to justify purely for clean sheets.
