Manchester United have issued a useful training update before their Champions League match against Roma, four days before hosting Aston Villa in FPL GW10 on Sunday 8 November.

The club's official training report provides two positives: Patrick Dorgu was back in the training group and Amad was seen participating after being forced off in Saturday's 2–0 defeat to Chelsea. But neither development is a guarantee of a Premier League start.

Manchester United availability: confirmed information

PlayerLatest club evidenceGW10 interpretation
Patrick DorguReturned to group training after hamstring troubleFitness improving; needs match-minute assessment
AmadTrained after being withdrawn versus ChelseaPositive sign; monitor any reaction and actual Roma involvement
Luke ShawNot spotted in filmed session; recent injury absenceDo not claim confirmed return
Marcus RashfordNot spotted; recently unavailableContinue to monitor, not confirmed fit
Benjamin ŠeškoNot spotted; recent injury absenceAvoid new purchase without a clear return update
Manuel UgarteNot spottedNeeds separate availability verification
Lisandro MartínezAvailable for Roma but banned for domestic Villa matchDo not use as GW10 starter

Being absent from a publicly filmed session is not always proof of a new setback. Similarly, visible training is not the same as full fitness or a confirmed matchday start.

Why Dorgu's return matters

Dorgu had been out since a September international injury. Returning before schedule can affect United's wide options and, by extension, the expected minutes of other midfielders and wing-backs. If he plays a short Champions League cameo, it would demonstrate recovery progression, not automatically readiness for 90 minutes against Villa.

For an FPL purchase, wait until at least one of these is known: selection in a competitive squad, meaningful match minutes, or an explicit manager fitness update. Managers already holding him can afford to wait longer when they have adequate cover.

Amad: a training appearance reduces concern, not risk to zero

Amad came off during Chelsea–United but joined the group afterwards. A player can train and still be rested or limited several days later. Check United's Roma selection and manager Michael Carrick's final comments before choosing him as a GW10 starter.

United play Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Sunday. Villa will also need to manage their own fixture and suspension issues, including Matty Cash's GW10 ban. That gives United attackers a tactical opening, but not a reason to invent a projected XI days early.

Which United players are safer FPL decisions?

Bruno Fernandes: typically retains creative responsibility, but you still need current position, opposition and cost in your calculation.

Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha: assess starting security and shot involvement, not simply the result at Chelsea.

Defence: Martínez's domestic suspension creates a selection change. A defender playing against Roma is not therefore certain to start versus Villa.

The most efficient move might be to do nothing until the Roma match has finished. European minutes can affect both injury recovery and rotation risk.

How to handle uncertainty in your FPL team

  1. If a player is definitely suspended, plan a starting replacement.
  2. If a player is just back in training, hold off on a new purchase.
  3. If you own two doubtful starters, prioritize a reliable XI before chasing a differential.

  5. Verify final information before the Friday 6 November, 18:30 GMT deadline.
