The short answer
Marcus Rashford is back in Manchester United's first-team picture and should no longer be treated as a transfer-exit player.
Michael Carrick said on 20 August that Rashford had returned to training in excellent condition and looked fit, sharp, strong and ready to play football.
That makes Rashford relevant again for FPL, but it does not automatically make him a Gameweek 1 buy. United already have Bruno Fernandes, Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko competing for attacking roles.
| FPL question | Current answer |
|---|---|
| Is Rashford back at United? | Yes |
| Is he fit? | Carrick says he looks ready |
| Is he nailed for GW1? | No |
| Best role | Left-sided forward / advanced attacker |
| Biggest strength | Goal threat and transition pace |
| Biggest risk | Competition for attacking minutes |
Why Carrick's comments matter
Rashford's older OneFPL transfer articles were built around possible moves away from Old Trafford. That context has changed.
Carrick praised Rashford's attitude and conditioning ahead of United's opener at Hull. The FPL conversation is now how many minutes he can win at United, not where he might move.

Where could Rashford play?
His clearest route is from the left, but United's attack is crowded.
| Player | Main FPL role |
|---|---|
| Bruno Fernandes | Creative talisman / set pieces |
| Bryan Mbeumo | Wide or central attacker |
| Matheus Cunha | Advanced midfielder / forward |
| Marcus Rashford | Left-sided goal threat |
| Benjamin Sesko | Centre-forward when available |
Rashford needs a regular 70-90 minute role before becoming a strong FPL recommendation.
Gameweek 1 verdict
United start away at promoted Hull. That raises Rashford's upside, but Bruno and Mbeumo remain safer because their expected roles are clearer.
Watch, don't force. If Rashford starts at Hull and plays an advanced role for 70+ minutes, he can become a serious Gameweek 2 option at home to Ipswich.
