The short answer
The situation has changed completely.
Zion Suzuki is now an Aston Villa player and Emiliano Martínez has joined Chelsea.
That removes the biggest uncertainty from the original version of this article.
Suzuki now has a much clearer route to becoming Villa's regular goalkeeper, but managers should still confirm his starting status before buying.

Latest FPL news
Does this make Suzuki first choice?
It makes him the obvious goalkeeper to monitor.
Martínez leaving removes the main competition discussed in the original article, but FPL managers should still avoid treating expected minutes as guaranteed until Villa's lineups confirm the new hierarchy.

The next fixtures matter
Villa face Arsenal before a more attractive run develops.
Rather than buying solely because Suzuki now has a clearer path to starts, compare Villa's clean-sheet prospects against other goalkeeper options in OneFPL Fixtures.

What Martínez leaving changes
This move creates two separate FPL goalkeeper stories:
| Club | Goalkeeper situation |
|---|---|
| Aston Villa | Suzuki has a much clearer route to starts |
| Chelsea | Martínez immediately entered the starting XI |
That is why the correct response is now to monitor both players rather than avoid the situation because of uncertainty.

OneFPL verdict
Suzuki: WATCH, with a strong chance of becoming FPL-relevant if starts are confirmed.
The transfer itself is no longer the question.
The next questions are:
- Does he start regularly?
- What is his FPL price/value?
- Can Villa produce enough clean sheets to make him better than similarly priced goalkeepers?
If those answers turn positive, Suzuki can quickly become a genuine option.
