The short answer
Fantasy Premier League has its own language. Some terms are official, such as BPS, FDR and Defensive Contributions. Others, including EO, template, nailed and differential, are community shorthand.
Core FPL terms

Ownership and rank terms
EO, or Effective Ownership, is a community metric combining ownership with captaincy exposure. A player can have EO above 100% when enough owners captain them. Read FPL Effective Ownership Explained.
Template means the group of highly owned players common across many squads.
Differential means a relatively low-owned player selected for higher potential rank gain. There is no official ownership threshold.
Green arrow / red arrow describes whether your rank improves or worsens.
Fixtures and planning

| Fixture swing | A team's schedule becomes clearly better or worse |
| Rotation pair | Two cheap players whose fixtures alternate well |

Player-role language
Nailed is community shorthand for a player expected to start very regularly.
Enabler is a cheap player who helps fund expensive assets.
OOP means out of position, when a player's real-life role is more attacking than their FPL classification suggests.

Chips
Wildcard: unlimited permanent transfers for the Gameweek.
Free Hit: unlimited transfers for one Gameweek only, then your previous squad returns.
Triple Captain: your captain scores triple rather than double.
Bench Boost: all four bench players' points count.
