FPL GW9 suspension tracker: confirmed bans and yellow-card risk
As of 27 October 2026. The Gameweek 9 deadline is Saturday 31 October, 11:00 GMT. Suspension news matters just as much as injury flags: a player can be fully fit yet unable to appear, and a four-yellow-card risk is not the same thing as a current ban.
Confirmed suspensions for GW9
The Premier League disciplinary tracker lists these players as suspended for GW9:
| Player | Club | FPL position | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yehor Yarmoliuk | Brentford | Midfielder | Suspended GW9 |
| Ryan Sessegnon | Fulham | Defender | Suspended GW9 |
| Rodrigo Bentancur | Tottenham | Midfielder | Suspended GW9 |
Cole Palmer is a separate case. Following his red card against Tottenham, his one-match suspension is due to be served in Chelsea's EFL Cup tie at Liverpool. The league's guidance says he is not suspended for GW9, although availability and selection still require separate checks. Do not sell him solely because of an assumed league ban.

One booking away from a one-match league suspension
| Player | Club | League yellow cards | Meaning |
|---|---|---|---|
| Matty Cash | Aston Villa | 4 | Next qualifying league yellow triggers one-match ban |
| Vitaly Janelt | Brentford | 4 | Same risk |
| Igor Thiago | Brentford | 4 | Same risk |
| Matt Crooks | Hull | 4 | Same risk |
| Oliver McBurnie | Hull | 4 | Same risk |
These are the latest five-yellow-card watch names in the official tracker, not a prediction of who will be booked. Cash is particularly relevant to managers assessing Villa's GW9 fixture with Fulham. Brentford's Janelt and Thiago have similar implications for a GW9 versus longer-term transfer decision.
How yellow and red cards differ
Five yellows in a player's club's first 19 Premier League matches trigger a one-match Premier League ban. The later ten-yellow threshold has a different window. Yellow cards collected in Premier League fixtures are not carried into the EFL Cup or FA Cup. Domestic red-card suspensions can apply across the Premier League and domestic cup competitions, which is why Palmer's case has a different outcome.
How to respond with your FPL squad
- Player already suspended: exclude them from your starting XI and ensure your bench contains someone likely to play. Selling depends on how long the suspension lasts and whether you want that player back immediately afterward.
- Player with four yellows: no automatic reason to transfer out today. Value the player's long-term fixtures, price and potential replacement first.
- Captain or vice-captain: avoid players who will definitely miss the league match; check all other doubts separately.
- Free Hit: a one-week squad can bypass a player who is suspended, but a lone suspension rarely justifies burning the chip.
GW9 checklist
Revisit the official tracker after the EFL Cup matches and final press conferences. The list can change. When evaluating a defensive replacement, compare potential clean-sheet points, DefCon performance and secure starts in OneFPL Player Lab. Use the Transfer Planner to test whether a direct swap is more efficient than a bench replacement.
