The short answer
An FPL player loses two points for a missed penalty.
If the goalkeeper saves it, the goalkeeper earns five points for the penalty save. Any goal scored from a rebound is treated as a separate scoring action.

What counts as a penalty miss?
A penalty is recorded as missed when the valid spot-kick:
- Is saved
- Hits the woodwork and does not directly enter
- Goes wide or over
The taker loses two FPL points even if their team scores immediately afterwards from a separate action.
Rebound assists
FPL awards an assist when a goal directly follows:
- A goalkeeper save
- A block
- A rebound from the woodwork
If another defensive touch occurs before the scorer receives the ball, the assist can be removed.
If the same player scores from their own rebound, no team-mate receives an assist for creating the original chance.
Who gets the assist for winning the penalty?
The player who wins a penalty can receive a three-point FPL assist when the resulting penalty is scored directly by a team-mate.
No assist is awarded when:
- The player wins and scores the penalty themselves
- The penalty is missed
- The goal does not come directly from the penalty

A goalkeeper earns five points for a penalty save.
The save can also contribute to the goalkeeper's normal save count, where every three saves earn one additional point.
