João Pedro and the value-forward template
João Pedro's £7.5m price is central to the early template. He produced 15 goals and nine assists last season, had a full summer and begins with Fulham away before attractive Chelsea home fixtures.
The concern is Chelsea's attacking depth. João Pedro remains safer than most supporting attackers because he can play centrally and has already shown strong pre-season form.

Gabriel
Gabriel scored 209 points last season and Arsenal host Coventry in Gameweek 1. The drawback is price. A £5.5m Arsenal defender can save £2.5m if a secure starter emerges during Saliba's absence.
Guéhi
Guéhi's move to Manchester City raises clean-sheet potential. The question is rotation under a new manager.
O'Reilly
O'Reilly offers attacking upside and strong expected-goal numbers for a defender. His £6.5m price requires more minutes security than a cheaper punt.
Dubravka
Dubravka is popular because he costs £4.0m, not because he is Tottenham's expected starter. Pair him with a playing goalkeeper. Do not mistake ownership for role security.
Template midfielders beyond Bruno
Szoboszlai
Liverpool's set-piece hierarchy has changed after Mohamed Salah's departure. Szoboszlai can take corners, direct free kicks and possibly deputise for penalties behind Isak.
At £7.0m, he also creates useful transfer flexibility.
Rogers
Rogers can become a major Chelsea option, but he is new to the group and may be eased into the starting lineup.

How much template should you own?
A sensible opening squad can contain six to eight high-ownership players and still include useful differentials.
Template ownership protects rank when the popular captain or premium scores. Differentials should be selected because their expected points are competitive, not simply because ownership is low.
