How FPL Price Changes Work in 2026/27: Official Predictor, Rises & Falls

Updated 15 September 2026. FPL now provides an official price-change predictor. OneFPL mirrors the official predictor on Tonight's Price Changes, which refreshes regularly during the day. Actual price changes are applied at 00:00 UK time.

If you remember older FPL seasons, this is an important change. Managers no longer need to treat unofficial overnight prediction sites as the only source of price-movement information.

How the official FPL price predictor works

Each player can show progress toward a potential price rise or fall.

The predictor is best read as an indicator of current pressure rather than a guarantee.

OneFPL's Price Changes page pulls the current official predictor so you can see the likely movers without relying on an outdated threshold model.

What time do FPL prices change?

For 2026/27, official price changes are applied at 00:00 UK time.

That means articles referring to the old pattern of waiting for unofficial changes around 01:30–02:30 UK should not be treated as current guidance.

The safest routine is:

1. Check Tonight's Price Changes.
2. Check the player's injury/selection status in Team News.
3. Check whether the move improves your squad in the Planner.
4. Only move early if the price change materially affects a transfer you already want.

Why do player prices rise or fall?

Transfers influence price pressure, but FPL does not publish a simple rule such as "X transfers equals a rise".

Ownership, transfer activity and the game's pricing controls all matter.

This is why raw transfer counts and the predictor should be treated as different tools:

Transfer Trends** shows which players managers are buying and selling.

Price Changes** shows official price-change pressure.

A player can be heavily transferred without changing price immediately.

How much can a player's price move?

Player values generally move in £0.1m steps.

A player bought at £7.0m who rises to £7.1m has increased in market value, but that does not necessarily mean you can sell him for £7.1m.

Selling value uses a separate profit rule.

How FPL selling price works

You receive half of the profit, rounded down to the nearest £0.1m.

Example:

When the current price is below what you paid, you sell at the current lower value.

This is why a manager can "lose" team value by selling and later buying the same player back.

Should you make an early transfer to beat a rise?

Sometimes — but price alone is not enough.

Early transfers trade price certainty for information risk.

This week is a good example because many Premier League players have European or cup matches before the Friday GW5 deadline. Buying someone on Monday to save £0.1m can backfire if he gets injured or plays 120 minutes midweek.

Use this rule:

Move early only when all three are true:

• You already want the player for football reasons.
• The price move would block or materially worsen your planned transfer.
• The player has no meaningful match/injury information still to come.

Otherwise, waiting is usually defensible.

Price changes on a Wildcard

A Wildcard can make team value more relevant because you may be making several transfers at once.

But avoid "chasing rises" with players you do not actually want in the final squad.

The better use is to map the final Wildcard structure in the Transfer Planner, then monitor whether any intended player is close to moving.

Price changes during a Free Hit

A Free Hit is temporary: your squad returns after the Gameweek.

The key strategic point is therefore not to rebuild long-term team value around temporary Free Hit moves. Focus on the one-week team.
