How to Use the OneFPL Transfer Planner
Most poor FPL transfers only look poor two Gameweeks later. A multi-Gameweek planner exposes the consequences before you confirm the move.
---
Most poor FPL transfers are not obviously poor in isolation.
The problem becomes visible one or two Gameweeks later.
Buying one player may:
- Block a future captain.
- Leave insufficient money for another move.
- Force an unnecessary point deduction.
- Create too many players from one club.
- Leave no route to a premium asset.
- Produce a weak lineup during an upcoming fixture swing.
A multi-Gameweek transfer planner helps reveal these consequences before a transfer is confirmed.
Step 1: Connect your team
Enter your public FPL Team ID.
OneFPL loads the squad, available budget and relevant team information without requiring your FPL password. If you are not sure where to find it, see our guide on how to find your FPL Team ID.
Step 2: Choose a planning horizon
Use:
- Three Gameweeks for immediate decisions.
- Five or six for normal transfer planning.
- Eight to ten for Wildcards and major fixture swings.
Longer plans are less certain, so treat them as scenarios rather than promises.
Step 3: Create a baseline plan
Before making hypothetical transfers, record what happens if you do nothing.
Review:
- Starting XI.
- Bench.
- Captain options.
- Weak fixtures.
- Players with uncertain minutes.
- Amount in the bank.
- Free-transfer count.
Doing nothing is a valid strategy and should be compared with every proposed move.
Step 4: Create several scenarios
Useful scenarios include:
Safe plan
Use free transfers only and prioritise secure starters.
Aggressive plan
Take an early point deduction or move quickly for a high-upside player. Our guide on whether a minus four is worth it sets out the maths.
Captain plan
Use transfers to reach the strongest captain for a future Gameweek.
Fixture-swing plan
Move from a club whose good run is ending to one whose favourable run is beginning.
Chip plan
Prepare for a Wildcard, Bench Boost, Triple Captain or Free Hit. See our complete chip guide for the timing rules.
Step 5: Track the bank
A transfer plan must remain financially possible.
Account for:
- Current player value.
- Selling price.
- Money in the bank.
- Likely price changes.
- The cost of future targets.
Do not assume you receive a player's full price rise when selling them. The price change predictions page shows which of your players are close to moving.
Step 6: Track free transfers
Managers can save up to five free transfers.
This creates more strategic flexibility than immediately spending one every week.
Saving can allow:
- A large squad restructure.
- A reaction to injuries.
- A formation change.
- Movement between premium players.
- Chip preparation without point deductions.
Step 7: Review fixtures
A good transfer is rarely based on only the next opponent.
Compare the target's next five or six fixtures with those of the outgoing player, using the fixture difficulty table.
Also review home and away matches separately.
Step 8: Review opportunity cost
Every transfer uses something valuable:
- A free transfer.
- Points.
- Money.
- A squad position.
- A club slot.
- Future flexibility.
Ask whether the move improves enough Gameweeks to justify that cost.
Step 9: Save alternative plans
FPL information changes quickly.
Keep a secondary plan for:
- An injury.
- A price rise.
- A lineup leak.
- A postponed match.
- A player losing their place.
Step 10: Confirm on the official game
OneFPL helps plan moves but does not replace the official FPL transfer confirmation process.
Check the final team news and confirm the chosen move in the official game before the deadline.

FAQ
Do I need my FPL password to use the planner?
No. The planner loads public team information using your FPL Team ID only. It never asks for your FPL password.
How far ahead should I plan?
Three Gameweeks for immediate decisions, five or six for normal planning, and eight to ten when preparing a Wildcard. Treat longer horizons as scenarios rather than commitments.
Does the planner confirm transfers in the official game?
No. It is a planning tool. You still need to make the move in the official FPL game before the deadline.
How many free transfers can I save?
Up to five. Banking them creates flexibility for a larger restructure or a reaction to injuries without taking point deductions.
Do I keep the full profit when a player rises in price?
No. You keep only part of the increase, so build any plan around the selling price rather than the current listed price.
