The short answer
Abdoul Ouattara has been added to Fantasy Premier League as a £4.0m defender, making him immediately relevant to managers searching for minimum-price starters before Gameweek 1.
Ipswich signed the 20-year-old from Strasbourg on 17 August. The club describes him as a versatile player who can operate on either side of defence or in midfield.
That combination — minimum price plus the possibility of an advanced role — is exactly why he belongs on the FPL watchlist.
But there is an important warning: a £4.0m price does not make Ouattara a guaranteed Gameweek 1 starter.

Why £4.0m matters
The cheapest defenders can transform an FPL squad. Saving £0.5m or £1.0m in defence can help you fit premiums, strengthen the bench or retain transfer flexibility.
The saving only works if the player gets minutes.
Ipswich already have several £4.0m defenders with clearer pre-season evidence, including Leif Davis, Issa Diop and Dara O'Shea. Ouattara must earn his place rather than walking straight into the XI.

The exciting part: his position
Ipswich's official announcement says Ouattara can play on both sides of defence and in midfield.
If Gary O'Neil ever uses him higher up the pitch while FPL still classifies him as a defender, he could combine defender clean-sheet scoring with attacking returns and possible defensive-contribution points.

Does he start Gameweek 1?
We would not call him nailed yet.
Ipswich's final friendly against Union Berlin gave us a relatively settled back four:
O'Shea — Diop — Greaves — Davis
That group had also been used in the previous friendly, which is meaningful evidence this close to the league opener.
Ouattara arrived after that match, so there has been no final senior friendly in which to judge where he sits in the hierarchy.
OneFPL verdict
Watchlist, not automatic buy.
Ouattara's £4.0m classification is excellent and his versatility creates genuine FPL upside. But the strongest Gameweek 1 evidence still belongs to Ipswich defenders who started the final friendlies.
