The short answer
Brentford's 3-0 win over Tottenham created one of the strongest early FPL watchlists in the league.
OneFPL Brentford ranking
| Rank | Player | Price | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Mamadou Sangaré | £5.5m MID | DefCon profile + attacking involvement |
| 2 | Michael Kayode | £4.5m DEF | Attacking full-back + clean-sheet route |
| 3 | Caoimhín Kelleher | £5.0m GK | Proven saves + clean sheets |
| 4 | Keane Lewis-Potter | £5.5m MID | Started and scored from advanced role |
| 5 | Igor Thiago | £8.0m FWD | Appears to lead penalties, despite GW1 miss |
| 6 | Vitaly Janelt | £5.0m MID | Goal + clean sheet, lower attacking ceiling |
1. Sangaré — best all-round value
Official FPL analysis calculated that Sangaré's Ligue 1 numbers would have reached the midfield DefCon threshold in 19 of 32 starts — about 59%.
Against Tottenham he added major attacking involvement.
That combination is why he ranks first: DefCon floor + attacking upside + £5.5m price.
Read the updated Sangaré FPL guide.
2. Kayode — the £4.5m defender with upside
Kayode scored and kept a clean sheet, producing 12 base FPL points before bonus/DC.
Brentford have already shown long-term faith in him with a contract running to 2032.
3. Kelleher — established goalkeeper quality
Kelleher was already FPL's second-highest-scoring goalkeeper last season with 143 points, according to Brentford.
He recorded 10 clean sheets, 110 saves and three penalty saves.
GW1 reinforced the appeal.
4. Lewis-Potter — attacking differential
Lewis-Potter started and scored.
At £5.5m he is a direct comparison with Sangaré.
Choose Lewis-Potter if you prioritise open-play attacking upside. Choose Sangaré if you prefer the potentially stronger DefCon floor.
5. Igor Thiago — penalties confirmed, but price is difficult
Thiago took Brentford's penalty and missed.
Penalty responsibility improves his ceiling, but at £8.0m he still needs significant attacking output to justify the price.
6. Janelt
Janelt scored and banked the midfielder clean-sheet point.
At £5.0m that is attractive, but his long-term attacking ceiling remains less obvious than Lewis-Potter's and Sangaré's overall scoring routes.
OneFPL verdict
Sangaré is our preferred value pick, Kayode is the defender to monitor and Kelleher is the safest established asset.
