The short answer
The 2026/27 Champions League league-phase draw is complete, and five Premier League clubs now know their eight opponents:
Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United and Aston Villa.
For FPL, the draw matters because difficult European matches increase the value of:
- secure 90-minute players
- deeper squads
- strong benches
- planning transfers around short recovery windows
- avoiding defenders and wingers whose minutes can be protected
UEFA has not yet assigned each opponent to an exact date. The full Champions League fixture list with dates and kick-off times will be published no later than Saturday 29 August.

| Liverpool | Atlético Madrid, Porto, Villarreal, Lens | Inter, Club Brugge, Fenerbahçe, LASK |
| Manchester United | Bayern, Roma, Leipzig, Sabah | Atlético Madrid, Sporting CP, Villarreal, Como |
| Aston Villa | Paris, Dortmund, Fenerbahçe, Viking | Barcelona, Club Brugge, Galatasaray, Slavia Praha |
Champions League matchday windows
| Matchday | Dates |
|---|---|
| MD1 | 8–10 September 2026 |
| MD2 | 13–14 October |
| MD3 | 20–21 October |
| MD4 | 3–4 November |
| MD5 | 24–25 November |
| MD6 | 8–9 December |
| MD7 | 19–20 January 2027 |
| MD8 | 27 January 2027 |
The exact opponent on each date is the missing piece. Once UEFA publishes it, OneFPL should map every European match directly onto the Premier League Gameweek before and after it.
Arsenal — difficult away trips raise rotation questions
Arsenal's away draw contains Bayern, Napoli and Real Betis, while Real Madrid visit the Emirates.
The FPL lesson is not “avoid Arsenal.” Arsenal won the Premier League while reaching last season's Champions League final.
The more useful question is which Arsenal players are protected from rotation?
Premium attackers and core defenders with elite expected minutes become more valuable than fringe options when midweek matches arrive.
Manchester City — squad depth can work both ways
City face Barcelona away and Paris at home, with several other demanding fixtures.
City are equipped to rotate more aggressively than almost any club in Europe.
That helps the team cope but can reduce FPL security for:
- wide attackers
- full-backs
- secondary central midfielders
- centre-backs when several options are fit
Erling Haaland can remain attractive even in a congested period because the ceiling is different from a normal rotation-risk asset.
Liverpool — travel matters
Liverpool's away schedule includes Inter, Club Brugge, Fenerbahçe and LASK.
Fenerbahçe and LASK create very different travel and recovery demands from a home European fixture.
Exact dates will determine whether those away trips create difficult Premier League turnarounds.
Manchester United — elite opponents plus Bruno's minutes
United face Bayern at home and Atlético away among their toughest fixtures.
Bruno Fernandes is exactly the type of FPL asset who can become even more valuable relative to teammates if he continues to dominate:
- penalties
- set pieces
- attacking creation
- expected minutes
But a congested schedule still increases the importance of monitoring training and manager comments.
Aston Villa — perhaps the biggest squad-depth test
Villa face both Paris and Barcelona, plus Dortmund, Galatasaray and other demanding opposition.
Their summer squad has already changed substantially.
For FPL, Villa may therefore be the English Champions League club where European congestion has the biggest impact on expected minutes and domestic consistency.
When the exact schedule arrives
On Saturday, OneFPL should add a table like:
Premier League match → days of rest → UCL opponent → days of rest → next Premier League match
That will identify:
- three-day turnarounds
- long European away trips
- likely rotation Gameweeks
- safer captaincy weeks
- Wildcard and transfer-planning pressure points
OneFPL verdict
Do not avoid European-club assets. Price in minutes risk correctly.
The draw strengthens the case for using expected minutes as a major part of OneFPL xP rather than projecting players only from form and fixture difficulty.
FAQ
Which Premier League teams are in the Champions League in 2026/27?
Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Aston Villa.
Are the exact Champions League dates confirmed?
The matchday windows are confirmed, but each club's opponent-by-date schedule will be communicated no later than Saturday 29 August.

Not automatically. It increases rotation, travel and recovery risk, which affects some players far more than others.
