FPL Position Changes 2026/27: All 11 Players and the Fantasy Impact
Eleven players have changed position in FPL for 2026/27. Some gain points potential, while others lose important scoring routes or become harder to fit into squads.
Eleven players have been reclassified in Fantasy Premier League for 2026/27.
A position change affects far more than the label beside a player's name. It changes goal points, clean-sheet points, available squad slots and the players he must compete against for selection.
Prices below were checked against the official FPL data on 23 July 2026.
Eric Moreira had not yet appeared in the official FPL data when this page was checked, so his price is shown as pending and will be updated when he is added to the game.
Junior Kroupi: Forward to midfielder
Kroupi is the clearest winner.
He scored 13 league goals last season while frequently playing behind the central striker. As a midfielder, each goal is worth five points instead of four. He can also earn a clean-sheet point.
At £7.5m, he becomes easier to compare with attacking midfielders rather than occupying one of only three forward slots.
Verdict: Major upgrade.
Patrick Dorgu: Defender to midfielder
Dorgu's attacking role explains the move, but the fantasy effect is mixed.
He now earns five points for a goal, but loses the defender's four-point clean sheet. He also needs 12 qualifying defensive actions for contribution points instead of the defender threshold of 10.
Verdict: Better when used as a genuine winger, worse when Manchester United are keeping clean sheets.
Omar Marmoush: Midfielder to forward
Marmoush loses the extra midfielder goal point and clean-sheet point.
He also enters a forward category where managers can select only three players. Competition with Haaland and other strikers makes him harder to fit into squads.
Verdict: Clear downgrade unless his price and starting role are extremely attractive.
Myles Lewis-Skelly: Defender to midfielder
Lewis-Skelly loses access to defender clean-sheet scoring despite playing for one of the league's strongest defences.
The change demands more attacking output to make him relevant.
Verdict: Significant downgrade for FPL.
Lamare Bogarde: Defender to midfielder
Bogarde's value will depend on minutes and role after Aston Villa's midfield rebuild.
Moving into midfield reduces clean-sheet value and increases the defensive contribution threshold.
Verdict: Less appealing unless he gains a more advanced position.
Keane Lewis-Potter: Defender to midfielder
Lewis-Potter has often played in attacking wide areas, so the new classification better reflects his role.
He gains an extra point for goals but loses defender clean-sheet points.
Verdict: Role dependent. More attractive as a winger than as a wing-back.
Mats Wieffer: Midfielder to defender
Wieffer becomes more interesting because he can earn defender clean-sheet points while playing in a full-back or defensive role.
He also needs only 10 qualifying defensive actions to collect contribution points.
Verdict: Potential winner if he starts regularly in defence.
Georginio Rutter: Midfielder to forward
Rutter loses the midfielder goal and clean-sheet advantages.
He now competes for one of three forward slots, which raises the standard required for selection.
Verdict: Downgrade.
Rio Cardines: Midfielder to defender
A defender classification can create value if Cardines earns regular minutes and plays with licence to advance.
Verdict: Monitor minutes and pre-season role.
Ryan Sessegnon: Midfielder to defender
Sessegnon could become highly useful if he continues playing as an attacking wing-back.
Defender classification provides clean-sheet points while preserving his potential for goals and assists.
Verdict: One of the most interesting upgrades.
Eric Moreira: Midfielder to defender
Moreira's appeal depends on Nottingham Forest's tactical structure and his starting security. His FPL price is still pending.
Verdict: Possible budget value if he plays high and starts consistently.
FPL verdict
The strongest winners are Kroupi, Wieffer and Sessegnon. The clearest losers are Marmoush, Lewis-Skelly and Rutter.
Do not judge the changes in isolation. Price and minutes remain more important than classification alone.
