The biggest FPL transfer week ever: Jackson and João Pedro

Gameweek 9 produced two all-time Fantasy Premier League transfer records. Nicolas Jackson was bought by 2,370,904 managers, the most incoming transfers ever recorded for a player in a single gameweek. João Pedro was sold by 3,348,555 managers, the highest outgoing total in FPL history. The Premier League confirmed both figures in its 31 October 2026 report.

These records are real news. Whether following the crowd is good strategy depends on the players' current role, price, fixture sequence and your specific squad.

Jackson rewarded buyers with a goal and three bonus points in Villa's 1–1 draw against Fulham: nine FPL points, according to the Premier League's report. The article also credits him with 39 points since GW5. João Pedro missed Chelsea's win over Manchester United because of a thigh injury, with the club anticipating a spell on the sidelines.

Why millions of transfers do not prove a good future pick

The incoming number represents completed managerial decisions, not future goal probability. That distinction matters especially after a surge: a player who scored nine points can be a superb buy, a fair hold, or a poor use of a hit depending on what happens next. Ownership increases can also make transfers feel urgent even when the fixtures do not support a move.

Villa's next league fixture is Manchester United away on Sunday 8 November. Bournemouth's Evanilson, by contrast, visits Ipswich, and Liverpool's Alexander Isak travels to Crystal Palace. That helps explain why the best João Pedro replacement is not the same for everyone.

The João Pedro decision is different

Where a player has been ruled out for several weeks, keeping him can mean repeatedly using your first substitute and tying up budget. Selling João Pedro is therefore more defensible than moving an available player after a blank. The important next question is whether to use the money for a forward alone or to improve another position.

If you have two free transfers, compare a direct João Pedro-to-Evanilson move with a forward-plus-defender structure. If you have no free transfer, the extra points cost can materially change the recommendation. OneFPL's existing replacement guide covers that decision in more detail.

What the latest transfer market says

As of the Premier League's 07:50 GMT, 2 November snapshot, Evanilson led GW10 incoming transfers with 276,240; Jackson had 222,581; Tavernier 174,280; and Isak 140,355. João Pedro led sales with 498,710. These figures indicate where attention is going, but they will change throughout the week.

The official 2 November overnight price report showed no risers and listed drops for Lewis-Skelly, McNair and Wellity Lucky. That is a reminder not to confuse accumulated transfers with a confirmed overnight price move.

Our GW10 verdict

Jackson looks a credible multiweek forward because his involvement is not dependent on the transfer-record headline. Evanilson has a simpler budget-and-fixture case for GW10. Isak remains a premium option for managers willing to pay for his ceiling. A João Pedro owner with inadequate bench cover should prioritize solving the injured-player problem rather than betting on whichever record looks most impressive.
