Updated 16 September 2026. Official FPL states that new players are added within seven days of their transfer being completed.
They can appear much faster than that. After the 2026 summer deadline, FPL added a large group of signings on 2 September and another player on 3 September.
The seven-day figure is the maximum window FPL gives in its FAQ, not a promise that every signing takes a full week.
The rule
Official FPL FAQ:
New players will be added within seven days of their transfer being completed.
Once added, the player receives:
- an FPL position,
- an initial price,
- a club,
- availability in transfers,
- and normal player data as matches are played.
Track new arrivals in the OneFPL Transfer Centre.
How quickly were Deadline Day players added?
FPL added many summer arrivals immediately after the transfer window closed.
Examples from the official list included:
| Player | Club | FPL position | Starting price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Matias Fernandez-Pardo | Newcastle | FWD | £6.0m |
| Ibrahim Mbaye | Aston Villa | MID | £6.0m |
| Zian Flemming | Ipswich | FWD | £5.5m |
| Dario Osorio | Crystal Palace | MID | £5.5m |
| Ben Chilwell | Crystal Palace | DEF | £4.5m |
| Ainsley Maitland-Niles | Everton | DEF | £4.5m |
| Brooke Norton-Cuffy | Hull | DEF | £4.0m |
The point is that FPL can add a batch quickly once transfers and registrations are confirmed.
Latest FPL news
How is a new player's FPL price decided?
FPL sets the starting price.
Managers do not vote on it, and the player's real transfer fee does not translate directly into FPL cost.
The game considers the player's expected role and Fantasy potential.
A star expected to start in an advanced role can enter at a premium price. A rotation-risk signing may be cheaper even if the real-world transfer fee was large.
Once the player is in the game, use Player Lab to compare the price against established players.
How is the FPL position decided?
The official game assigns the classification.
That can matter enormously.
A real-life wing-back classified as a defender receives defender scoring, while a wide attacker classified as a midfielder receives midfielder scoring.
You cannot change that classification yourself.
For role changes during the season, follow Out-of-Position Watch.
Can you buy a new signing immediately?
Once the player appears in FPL and is available in the transfer list, he can be transferred into a normal squad.
However, whether the move counts for the upcoming Gameweek depends on the normal deadline.
If the FPL deadline has already passed, the transfer applies to the next Gameweek.
Check FPL Deadlines.
Can a newly added player change price?
Once in the live game, player values are affected by transfer activity like other FPL assets.
In 2026/27, the official Price Change Predictor tracks movement toward a potential rise or fall, with actual changes occurring at 00:00 UK time.
Use Tonight's Price Changes instead of guessing from raw transfer numbers.
Is a new signing automatically a good FPL buy?
No.
The most common mistake is buying the name before the role is known.
For each new player, check:
| Question | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Will he start? | Minutes are the foundation of FPL value |
| What position will he actually play? | Affects attacking and defensive routes |
| Is he on penalties or set pieces? | Adds repeatable upside |
| What is his FPL classification? | Changes scoring |
| What are the next fixtures? | Determines timing |
| Is there European rotation? | Can reduce starts |
| Who loses minutes because of him? | Transfer can affect existing assets too |

What happens if a player transfers between Premier League clubs?
The player's FPL club changes.
There is also a special squad-limit situation.
If a real-life Premier League transfer leaves your FPL squad with more than three players from the same club, you are not forced to fix it instantly.
However, when you make your next transfer, you must return to the normal maximum of three from one club.
This is confirmed in the official FPL FAQ.
What happens if my player leaves the Premier League?
A player who leaves the league cannot keep earning Premier League FPL points.
The practical response is usually to transfer him out when it makes sense for your squad.
Do not rush purely because the player has departed if waiting one deadline helps you avoid a hit, but remember that he gives you no useful future scoring route.
How should Wildcard managers handle late additions?
A newly added player can be especially tempting on a Wildcard because you have unlimited transfers.
Do not lock him in simply because the price looks attractive.
A better workflow:
- Add him to a draft in the Transfer Planner.
- Check predicted minutes in Team News.
- Compare him against same-price options in Player Lab.
- Review the next four to six fixtures.
- Wait for manager comments where possible.
Why some players are added at different times
Transfers can be announced at different times, subject to registration and official processing.
That is why two signings completed on the same day do not always appear in FPL at exactly the same moment.
The useful rule for managers is the official maximum: within seven days.
