The short answer
Erling Haaland is the best FPL captain for Gameweek 3.
Manchester City host promoted Coventry, while Haaland enters the fixture after scoring twice at Crystal Palace.
| Rank | Captain | Fixture | OneFPL view |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Haaland | Coventry (H) | Best captain |
| 2 | Isak | Ipswich (A) | Best alternative |
| 3 | Bruno Fernandes | Everton (A) | Form pick |
| 4 | Saka | Chelsea (H) | Premium differential |
| 5 | Cherki | Coventry (H) | High ceiling, minutes risk |
Why Haaland is No.1
Three factors align:
- Fixture: Coventry at home.
- Role: City's first-choice No.9.
- Form: two goals and 13 FPL points in GW2.
This is also a legitimate Triple Captain window, although normal captaincy and chip strategy are separate decisions.

Isak is the strongest alternative
Liverpool travel to Ipswich on Friday.
Isak scored in GW2 and offers a strong combination of role and fixture.
If you are going against Haaland, Isak is the cleanest alternative.
What about Bruno after 23 points?
Bruno's 23-point haul was his best-ever FPL match.
That makes him extremely difficult to sell, but Everton away is still a weaker captaincy fixture than Coventry at home.
Hold Bruno; you do not have to captain him.
Saka and Cherki
Saka scored at Villa and has secure premium minutes, but Chelsea is a tougher opponent.
Cherki shares Haaland's excellent fixture but carries more substitution and rotation risk.
OneFPL verdict
Captain: Haaland Vice-captain: Isak Differential: Bruno or Saka
