Updated 22 September 2026. The original GW1-GW6 captain rotation is now obsolete. This version plans captaincy from GW6 through GW10 using the confirmed Premier League schedule.
The short answer
The standout premium pairing for a GW6 Wildcard is:
Erling Haaland + Bukayo Saka
because their fixtures rotate extremely well.
| GW | Haaland | Saka | Early captain preference |
|---|---|---|---|
| GW6 | Liverpool (A) | Leeds (H) | Saka |
| GW7 | Ipswich (H) | Nott'm Forest (A) | Haaland |
| GW8 | Aston Villa (A) | Everton (H) | Saka |
| GW9 | Brighton (H) | Liverpool (A) | Haaland |
| GW10 | Nott'm Forest (A) | Hull (H) | Saka |
That gives you a premium home captain in all five Gameweeks.
This is a planning article, not the final weekly captain ranking.
International minutes, European workload and team news still matter.
Why captain rotation matters on Wildcard
A Wildcard should answer more than:
Who projects well?
It should also answer:
Who will I captain each week?
Complementary premium fixtures can reduce the need for expensive sideways transfers later.
Latest FPL news
GW6 — Saka vs Leeds
Arsenal host Leeds.
Man City travel to Liverpool.
On fixture alone, Saka has the stronger environment.
The caveat is workload.
England can play through 6 October, while Arsenal v Leeds begins at 12:30 BST on 10 October.
Final GW6 captaincy should therefore wait for Saka's international minutes and return to club training.
Early captain: Saka.
GW7 — Haaland vs Ipswich
Man City host Ipswich.
This is one of the strongest premium fixtures in the first half of the season.
Saka travels to Nottingham Forest.
Early captain: Haaland.
This is also why managers are debating Bench Boost GW7 vs Triple Captain Haaland.
GW8 — Saka vs Everton
Arsenal host Everton.
Man City travel to Aston Villa.
Villa away is not a bad Haaland fixture, but the home matchup shifts the early edge toward Saka.
Early captain: Saka.
GW9 — Haaland vs Brighton
City host Brighton.
Arsenal travel to Liverpool.
This is one of the cleanest rotation swings.
Early captain: Haaland.
GW10 — Saka vs Hull
Arsenal host Hull.
City travel to Nottingham Forest.
Again, Arsenal's home fixture gives Saka the stronger early environment.
Early captain: Saka.
Why Haaland + Saka works so well
Across five Gameweeks:
Saka home Haaland home Saka home Haaland home Saka home
That does not guarantee five captain returns.
It does reduce fixture-based captaincy stress.
Bruno Fernandes as a third captain option
Bruno's run is:
| GW | Fixture |
|---|---|
| GW6 | Spurs (H) |
| GW7 | Leeds (A) |
| GW8 | Bournemouth (H) |
| GW9 | Chelsea (A) |
| GW10 | Aston Villa (H) |
Bruno is particularly useful in GW6, GW8 and GW10.
But Haaland/Saka already provide strong alternatives in those weeks.
That means Bruno does not need to be owned for captaincy alone.
His price must justify normal points too.

Isak as an alternative premium forward
Liverpool's run:
| GW | Fixture |
|---|---|
| GW6 | Man City (H) |
| GW7 | Brentford (A) |
| GW8 | Brighton (H) |
| GW9 | Arsenal (H) |
| GW10 | Crystal Palace (A) |
Isak's four goals in five Gameweeks make him a legitimate premium alternative.
His fixtures do not rotate with Saka as cleanly as Haaland's.
Liverpool also have Champions League travel.
Captaincy role: good alternative, weaker rotation anchor than Haaland.
Chelsea could re-enter if Palmer/João Pedro recover
Chelsea's run is:
- Bournemouth (H)
- Everton (A)
- Spurs (H)
- Man Utd (H)
- Sunderland (A)
That contains captaincy potential.
But João Pedro missed GW5 injured and Palmer has withdrawn from England duty injured.
Do not build the five-week captain plan around them before fitness is confirmed.
European schedule warning
Captain rotation is not only fixture difficulty.
Haaland
City play PSG on 14 October, then Ipswich on 17 October.
They also play AEK on 20 October before Villa.
Saka
Arsenal play Lille on 13 October, then Forest on 18 October.
They travel to Bayern on 21 October before Everton.
Core premium players are less rotation-prone than fringe players, but captaincy needs the best expected minutes possible.

Wildcard implication
If you are choosing between:
Haaland only
and
Haaland + Saka
the captaincy schedule is one of the strongest arguments for the second route.

OneFPL verdict
For GW6-GW10:
Haaland + Saka is the strongest current captain-rotation pair.
It produces a premium home fixture in every Gameweek.
Bruno and Isak are useful alternatives, but neither improves the rotation enough to be essential for captaincy alone.

FAQ
Who has the best captain rotation from GW6 to GW10?
Haaland and Saka because their strongest home fixtures alternate across all five Gameweeks.
Who should captain in GW6?
Saka at home to Leeds is the strongest early fixture, but final advice should wait for England minutes and Arsenal team news.
Is Haaland essential if I own Saka?
No player is literally essential, but Haaland's Ipswich and Brighton home fixtures create major captaincy upside.
Is Bruno needed for captain rotation?
No. He offers useful home options, especially GW8 and GW10, but Haaland/Saka already cover those weeks well.
Can this rotation change?
Yes. Injuries, Europe and tactical changes can alter the weekly best captain.
