A player can look out of position in one friendly and then return to normal full-back when the full squad is available.
Palestra also faces:

- Competition on both flanks

- New signing integration
- Formation changes
Is £5.5m too much?
At the same price you can access Arsenal and Manchester City defenders.
That means Palestra needs either:
- Better attacking role
- Better minutes
- Better fixtures
If he only becomes a normal full-back with rotation risk, the Arsenal/City alternatives are easier to trust.
