Gameweek 2 deadline
The current official FPL deadline is Friday 28 August 2026 at 18:30 BST.
Use this checklist after the final press conferences and before you save your team.
1. Recheck injuries and suspensions
A yellow or red flag is not the whole story. Read the latest manager comments and confirm whether the player trained.
Use the GW2 injury tracker.
2. Check late transfer-window risk
The transfer window remains open after GW2. Do not bring in a player whose club future is genuinely uncertain unless the upside clearly justifies it.
3. Check tonight's price risk
FPL price changes now happen at 00:00 UK time each day. The official Price Change Predictor is guidance, not a guarantee.
Do not rush an injury-sensitive transfer just to save £0.1m, but do check whether a move could become unaffordable overnight.
4. Decide whether to use the free transfer or roll
One GW1 blank is not a reason to transfer a good player. If your squad has no clear problem, rolling increases flexibility for GW3.
5. Pick the captain from role + fixture
The leading GW2 conversation includes Bruno Fernandes at home to Ipswich, Cole Palmer at home to Brighton and Erling Haaland away to Crystal Palace.
Use the OneFPL GW2 captain guide rather than choosing the player who scored most last week.
6. Set a secure vice-captain
Your vice only matters if the captain records zero minutes. Choose a player with a strong chance of starting and completing meaningful minutes.
7. Put the bench in the correct order
Your first substitute should be the outfield player most likely to provide useful points while preserving a legal formation if auto-subs are needed.
8. Do not force a chip
You have two sets of chips across the season. A mediocre GW2 Bench Boost or emotional Wildcard can cost more than a small opening-week rank loss.
9. Recheck set pieces and penalties
GW1 gave us new competitive clues, including Dominik Szoboszlai converting a Liverpool penalty. Treat one incident as important evidence, then keep monitoring.
10. Save and verify
After your final move:
- confirm captain
- confirm vice
- confirm bench order
- confirm goalkeeper
- check remaining bank
- refresh the page once to ensure the team saved
OneFPL verdict
The best GW2 decision is often the boring one: keep good players, fix real problems and avoid buying last week's score.
