The short answer
If you think FPL has not given you a free transfer, the most common reason is that you used a Wildcard or Free Hit in the previous Gameweek.
The free transfer received for the chip Gameweek is used as part of activating that chip.
Previously banked transfers are not lost.
Example
You enter GW5 with:
- two saved free transfers;
- plus the normal new Gameweek transfer.
You play Free Hit.
The new GW5 transfer is used by the chip.
Your two previously saved transfers remain available in GW6.
What about Triple Captain or Bench Boost?
Those chips do not use your weekly transfer.
If you played Triple Captain or Bench Boost and made no transfer, the normal free-transfer rules continue.
Other reasons the number may look wrong
Check whether:
- you already used a free transfer;
- you were already at the maximum bank of five;
- you activated Wildcard or Free Hit;
- you are looking before the next Gameweek transfer has been awarded.
Maximum bank
You can store up to five free transfers.
If you already have five, leaving another transfer unused will not create a sixth.
